The Special Guests' news...

After almost a year of silence (everyone's been off doing other things), we're about to embark on a few week's rehearsals in August for our new show Something Got a Hold of Me, which we showed a work-in-progress of last October. We'll be showing it in Edinburgh as part of the Forest Fringe's Bristol weekend, and then all being well, showing it in a community centre or somesuch place in Bristol in October. Then, come November, we'll be undertaking our first international gigs, showing the piece twice in Germany.

Where have Matthew and Kate gone?

It's that time again, when the clocks go forward, the nights get longer and Kate and Matthew disappear into a Mayfest shaped hole.

Yes, it's April, and planning for this year's festival is reaching fever pitch. We're often to be found in the deserted upstairs cafe at Bristol Old Vic, surrounded by laptops and brochures, sweating a bit.

We need new members!

We’d love to hear from anyone who is interested in becoming a member of Residence. We have a small number of places available which we need to fill pronto. We are a varied group of theatre companies, individual artists, producers and directors and we’re always looking for new friends.

If you’re interested in joining us, drop us a line to residencemail@gmail.com. We’re asking potential members to answer three basic questions: What is your practice? What could you bring to Residence? What would you want from Residence?

DEADLINE: FRIDAY 16 JANUARY

Holes by Louise Sacher

Sita is directing a show at The Egg - here's the info...

Holes
By Louise Sacher

Stanley Yelnat’s family has a history of bad luck, so he is not too surprised when a miscarriage of justice sends him to Camp Green Lake Juvenile Detention Centre. Where as punishment, the children must dig a hole a day.

After our last hugely successful production of His Dark Materials, our latest production is a modern masterpiece which Phillip Pullman called “exceptionally funny & unmistakably powerful”

So book a ticket for my show at the egg today!

Join Residence

Residence is full at the moment, but we are actively encouraging other people to set up their own shared spaces.

If you are interested in this then get in touch HERE and ask for Ed. We are always interested in hearing from people who might like to become a member of Residence although at the moment we aren't in a position to take on any new members straight away.

The Flaw Set Photos on Flickr

Check out photos on Flickr from The Flaw Set in May, which was something of a Residence take over. We had toasts raised by Kettle of Fish, songs from The Wonder Club, an interpretation of Joni Mitchell's Blue by Tom Marshman and Iain Morrison, Ed Rapley and The Special Guests.

Here's the link. Enjoy.

a new home... nearly

Here are some 'before' shots of Residence's new home at The Island at Bridewell Police Station... It's early days, but we're stripping paint, glossing, scrubbing and cleaning like there's no tomorrow!

M-M-Mayfest

Hi Hi,

A reminder about Action Hero and Drunken Chorus this Monday at the Tobacco Factory. If you haven't seen Drunken Chorus before, they're a really lovely company and Lost and Found is a great show - well worth catching Residence's North West contemporaries! And of course Residence's own Action Hero. It's a bargain night with tickets at £8 (£6 conc), so that's basically £4 (£3) a show......
