Residence in Residence

Tobacco Factory kindly allowed us to take over their building for two days. We decided to use the space to create a temporarily expanded version of what Residence does. The most effectual element of our organisation is how it puts the SOCIAL at the centre of our work. Merely by being in regular contact with other artists we’ve all benefited. So Residence in Residence tried to do the same thing. Simply bring artists, producers and programmers together in the same space.

Resisence in Residence Provocations

A short while ago now, as part of our 'Residence in Residence' weekender at the Tobacco Factory on 11th and 12th September we held a series of simultaneous dsicussion events all starting with a different provocation to find a 'new way of...' Each discussion event began with a provocation written by someone working in that area, the provocations were;

new ways of developing new work by Hannah @ New work Network,
new ways of funding new work by Gary @ The institute of Art and Dissent at Home,

We just had a brilliant time doing A Western at the British Council Edinburgh Showcase, and now we’re getting sorted for a mega-busy Autumn.

here’s what we’re up to before Christmas, hope you can catch us soon!

work begins….

This week we’ve started working on a new show.  We’re going to take our time making this one and allow it to develop and evolve nice and slowly but its got the working title ‘Frontman’ at the moment and we’ll be showing a tiny 10 minute work-in-progress of it at the Forest Fringe Bristol weekend in Edinburgh on 22nd and 23rd August at 4:30pm.

A Western at Edinburgh British Council Showcase

24/08/2009 21:45
29/08/2009 23:00

After our hugely positive experience of forest fringe last year in Edinburgh, we’re returning again this year for 6 nights. From the 24th August – 29th August we’ll be performing ‘A Western’ at Forest Fringe at 10:15pm. Get there early and enjoy a drink at the bar, its a limited capacity.

‘A Western’ is presented as part of the British Council Showcase.

The Special Guests' news...

After almost a year of silence (everyone's been off doing other things), we're about to embark on a few week's rehearsals in August for our new show Something Got a Hold of Me, which we showed a work-in-progress of last October. We'll be showing it in Edinburgh as part of the Forest Fringe's Bristol weekend, and then all being well, showing it in a community centre or somesuch place in Bristol in October. Then, come November, we'll be undertaking our first international gigs, showing the piece twice in Germany.
