Join Residence
Residence is full at the moment, but we are actively encouraging other people to set up their own shared spaces.
If you are interested in this then get in touch HERE and ask for Ed. We are always interested in hearing from people who might like to become a member of Residence although at the moment we aren't in a position to take on any new members straight away.
If you're willing to wait for a little bit then read on... If you want to join Residence you should... be an artist with your own practice, making and showing theatre, live art or performance be living and working in Bristol be interested in joining and contributing to a creative community be committed to actively contributing to the running of Residence.
If this sounds like you, then you should know some stuff about how we work... Residence is a group of like-minded artists working together, sharing time and resources, trying to support each other's practices. We all feel this investment helps us to make better work. We are not funded, and we do not offer any money to any artists. We all contribute time and effort towards the running of the group, and all pay a small monthly fee to be a member.
We are artist-led, no one is in charge and we make decisions collectively through monthly meetings and by groups or individuals taking the initiative and making good things happen. Some info about where Residence is... Residence isn't a space... it's a collection of artists. But we do collectively rent a space at The Milk Bar on St Nicholas Street, where members can meet, rehearse and share work.
Our space isn't ideal for physically-based practices, because it is small and does not have a sprung floor. That's not to say you couldn't join Residence if you make dance/physical theatre - but you should be aware of the limitations. So, now you know a bit about us! If you’re interested in joining us and would like to find out more then drop us a line HERE and ask for Sylvia. love, Residence x
