Links we Love

Sleepwalk Collective

Following a residency at Residence in May 2009 (and a performance at Bristol’s Mayfest) the Sleepwalk collective returned the favour by inviting Residence artist Tom Marshman to participate in their festival Factoria de Fuegos in October 2009.

It should also be noted that in July 2009 Sammy did try to keep the link between the two organisations strong by supporting Residence artists Action Hero when they performed in Barcelona but was prevented from attending by a freak hail storm!

Forest Fringe

Andy and Deborah the artistic directors of Forest Fringe have spent many a night ranting with us about the benefits of artist led projects and providing space for artists to experiment and play. Action Hero, Ed Rapley, Tinned Fingers, The Special Guests and Jo Bannon have all shown work at their groundbreaking festival within a festival in Edinburgh, and Andy slept with us all at The Tobacco Factory Theatre back in September 2009.

The institute for the Art and Practice Dissent at Home

Gary from the institute also came and slept with us all at the Tobacco Factory in September 2009 and led us all on a spontaneous march against Tesco. Later that year he came back with his kids for an exhibition at the Arnolfini and went shopping for fruit and veg with James from Action Hero.

The Showroom

Ed and Jo travelled across Wales to perform in Aberystwyth and then we invited everyone from Showroom to hang out with us in Bristol. They showed us all up with an all night badminton-athon.

Stoke Newington International Airport

Gemma and James from Action Hero, first met Gary from STK at Forest Fringe in 2008 and from there a long and beautiful relationship with Residence began. Greg came and played his pirate songs at our event at Tobacco Factory and Action Hero went and performed Watch Me Fall over in Stoke Newington. For their Live Art Speed dating event in Tokyo, Residence tried to link live, on the internet, from our toilet, to the good people of Japan, but failed.

Mayfest

Matthew and Kate who are members of Residence also sometimes sit in a dark room behind some washing machines at Bristol Old Vic and cook up this enormous festival of theatre. It happens once a year and lots of Residence members take part.

Theatre Bristol

The original gang of eager beavers who first raised the possibility of setting up Residence included Katie Keeler who is a creative producer at Theatre Bristol. She has spent a long time writing us complicated spreadsheets and generally egging us on. Tanuja and Seth from Theatre Bristol are also full time eggers on.

Simon Games

These two Simons share the building with us at The Milk Bar and, amongst other things, make robots, wear moose costumes and design pervasive games
